“Tender Safety”

We wallow in fear and doubt
And cry that we’ll never get out

For the beasts pacing in the night
Give us leave our senses with fright

As the stars close in around you
My anger broke its bonds and flew

Straight through the window in the sky
To rest upon all light and fly

No more in such earnest hate
Of bonds and chains or locks of fate

But to love and laugh and laughing love
Your safety as tender as the wings of a dove
