You quietly look down now,
Ashamed you were too careless
When you crossed the road,
Too keen to go the other side
When you had a weak sight
A falling vision
And an unfailing zeal
Never to look left and right!
You’re sorry it can’t be mended,
You were too careless
On that small stretch
That kept you off eternally,
Denying you the last few steps
To the other side of the road,
And you landed on the other side
Lamenting your prudence
Or the lack of it!
