The softest things in the world
Must be gathered to me
Immediately
Now

I need to wrap myself in silk
Linens, clouds, and sheep’s wool
All the smoothy smooth stuff
That all the smooth is made of

And have a bundled soft plant
Underneath my toe
And have the leaves of perfect size
Only forty more to go

And take the fluffeled ivories
Bound up in strands of cozy
And put my head upon it
Happy in my smile

I’ll go the distance if I need
Twelve thousand leagues at that
To find the softiest sunseed
That ever one has felt

Then I find the monks
Up in the Bangladugs
The ones that train all their lives
To perfect their cuddle hugs

And when I’ve gathered all to me
No matter how far they be
I will lie down in my room
Happy as a pea.
