Standing on my little hill
I look down at the view
They all go about their days
Seemingly without care

I wonder at them
With obvious contempt
Simple creatures with simple wants
Do they ever think beyond their box?

I look around my high seat
No one near me for miles at least
A spectator to other’s days
Exasperated and amused

I gaze at the distance then
A higher place just across
Another lonely figure is there
Looking down at the view

Perhaps they wonder at me too
With obvious disdain
For at my core, I am like them

A simple creature with simple wants
Trying hard to reach outside my box
