I’ve never been to China, so China came to me,
It came in the form of a virus,
By air, by land and sea.
It appeared with the force of a tidal wave,
As it swept across the globe,
It was deadly in its’ mission,
And it threatened to explode.

I thought that I had a head-cold,
But I couldn’t have been more wrong,
Cause it ripped through my body like lightning,
And I hoped that I was strong….
….Strong enough for the fever,
The headache, the cough and the chills,
The shortness of breath and the aching,
And knowing how quickly it kills.

So with no known cure I was frightened,
I was worried, I panicked, I cried,
Was the Government even helping?
I felt that they had lied.
The world had declared a pandemic,
A catastrophe far in excess,
A biblical tale come a-knocking,
That would lead to my much-too-soon death.

My family try to comfort me,
But no kisses, no touching, no hug,
Cause as  much as they love me – they fear me,
As I harvest my deadly bug.

I lie here just watching and waiting,
Awaiting a fate unknown,
In stark isolation and dying,
In a world on its’ knees and alone.

Bacteria have gotten the upper-hand,
The food-chain has turned on its’ head,
We killed the planet, we’re leaving,
Virus one,
Humans nil,
We’re all dead.
