Halt who goes there be  it friend or foe
Whose to know when furies past
When flags of peace they fly half mast
Now they are gone and blood of both merge into one
In gods green fields now poppies sway
Where braver men than me where slain
Perplexed platoons entrenched in tombs
Brave hearts lost to much the cost
the price of peace
How grand they looked in uniform
as they waved their last on that snow filled morn
In seas of khaki they stormed war zones
Then deadly calm and the seas rage no more
To see so much through eyes so young
as millions slept  lullabies where sung
Imagine.... to lie ready for to die
Knowing that these thoughts will be your last
No more a shadow shall you cast
Never again to feel an autumn breeze
Or the embrace of arms across distant seas
I salute you young brave souls
For never a new born will those arms hold
I salute you young brave souls
For never a wrinkle shall unfold
They died with grace for what they believed
So we can lead the lives we lead.
God bless you all.
