She was only eighteen
How time flies so fast
Living in a smaller town
Where she knew
She wouldn't last

She had dreams
To make it on her own
Dissapear behind the scenes
Looking for the love she never
Found at home

You're a bird spread your wings
Your still onward bound
Destined for greater things
Flying so high and I hope
You never touch the ground
I know you'll find your place
In this crazy world
You're like a whirlwind , baby
And you're gonna give
New York City a twirl

She was gonna paint the stars
On Broadway
While her own light grows dim
Saying Goodbye to the lonely nights
Wishing she were still with him

Finding her name in all the pages
But did you read the news today
She looks in the mirror
And she only ages
Waiting for her chance to fly away

You're a bird spread your wings
Your still onward bound
Destined for greater things
Flying so high and I hope
You never touch the ground
I know you'll find your place
In this crazy world
You're like a whirlwind , baby
And you're gonna give
New York City a twirl
