The tears flow down my cheeks
Like a river bed exposed to extremes
A flash flood
No warning
Everything comes rushing with the powerful current
The pain.
The suffering.
Like dirt, branches and leaves.
Rocks tumble
My throat crumbles
There is no stopping
The liquid rushes, like it has somewhere to be.
Finally set free, the dam is broken, for all the world to see.
As the water rushes down, a trail of salt remains.
A reminder of the all the events that led to this fate.
The taste of pain
The taste of suffering
A bitter truth that needs to be reckoned
Calmness arrives quickly.
My mind thinking.
How can we prevent this from happening, to stop it from beginning?
Look deep within and the answer is there.
The damage has always been waiting for release.
The self made dam was much to weak.
Years and years of holding back, it was only time before it cracked.
Everything comes rushing at once and there is no stopping.
I don't want to drown, but the water is stifling.
I reach for a life vest on shore, but it's far beyond reach.
So I give in and let the water rush through me and around me engulfing me completely until there is nothing left and I'm back to the beginning.
The dam rebuilt like nothing ever happened.
Straining and holding.
Protecting and ensuring that the tears don't come back
