There's an empty stage there in Vegas
Where the piano man wouldn't play
The people are cheering
But they've grown restless
As his Hope's and his dreams fly away

And they sing to him a memory
About a different time another day
Where he could get by
With a glass of wine
And drink all of his problems away

Theres a piano on that stage in Vegas
Waiting for a tune to sing
While he sits at his desk
Both night and day
But no bells ever seem to ring

No it doesn't sound how he planned it
He can't find the right words to rhyme
He picks up the pen and plays the keys
And listens one very last time

But he knows no one will listen
No one will like what he plays
The moment he's been waiting for
Stays just another dream today

And the crowd begins to grow weary
Most of them have already gone
He looks over his shoulder
As his feet grow colder
And says "The show must go on!"
