St. Louis
Cold and damp St. Louis air
Yet warmth abundant I felt there
While over morning coffee fare
Two friends an early moment shared
What we discussed I don’t remember
Tho words flowed easy and unhindered
Intent my ear, her voice so tender
A pleasant sound in drab November!
But soon, above the new world sea,
My friend sailed East away from me
To land of Queen and scone and tea
Her void a brief...eternity
Since she’s been gone that air does bite
St. Louis gray, the sun not bright
Presenting groups are no delight
And downtown crowds to me a blight
Return my friend lest I despair
Bring back the sun, the kind warm air
Save me from such a dull affair
I long again a cup to share
“Presenting groups” my friend and I (among others) were in downtown St. Louis to hear some business presentations.
