All at once
Her emotions fly
Out of control
Her eyes blur
It comforts her
Absorbs her tears
It protects her from her nightmares
Understands her relapses
It understands her cravings for her poison
There do here when no one else is
She fantasies about that day
The day when she won’t be able to take it
The day when it’s all over
She wonders who she will give it to
And she hopes that they will take care of it
The thing that kept her alive
When no one
Not even herself could
