I lay here listening to you sleep

wishing I could hold and kiss you.

i know inside you will never be mine to keep

But if I can’t have you then who?

Who else will hold me and listen to me breathe

and help me through the night like you do?

Maybe I’ll just splinter into a thousand fragments of who I used to be, waiting forever for someone to try and pick up the pieces.

Or maybe I’ll be okay and you’ll guide me along until we’re both ready to let go.
