don't tell me you love me
if you don't mean it, she said.
don't give me hope if
you're just going to dash it all away.
if you every plan on leaving, she said,
you might as well get it over with.
she threw down her defenses
and laid it all out on the line
because, she said,
even the ugly truth is much better
than the most beautiful lie.
