Pretend for just a minute, love,
pretend that you cared.
Would you tell me that you love me,
and you'll wish that I was there?
Would you hold me in your arms,
maybe play with my hair?

And even though I know it's not true,
I'd eat it all up, because it's from you.

Pretend for just a minute, dear,
pretend that you cared.
Would you wrap your arms around me,
and say that it's all right?

Because that's what I really want,
that's what I really need...
