And maybe it was us in a past life but not this one And maybe we’ll wake up in twenty years at 3am with the same contentment in separate houses And maybe we’ll stare at a photograph of the other before responsibility set in and the sun set slowly And maybe it will sting for a moment or two before we both turn back admiring the result And we won’t regret a thing -L.E.
