What’s in A Name?

Until the elephant was named an Elephant
Three ton creatures never walked the Earth
Enormous mammoths never had such girth
Gray colored trunks never took birth
Big floppy ears never carried worth
Oh Mighty Elephant, thank you for walking the Earth!

Until the cow was named a Cow
No bovine ever slept standing
No being was so understanding
No animal was so upstanding
No herd was so withstanding
Oh Peaceful cow, thank you for being outstanding!

Until the peacock was named a Peacock
The art of dance was not created
The colorful palette was not decorated
The act of self-confidence was not dictated
The power of attraction was not captivated
Oh beautiful peacock, thank you for being celebrated!

Until the human was named a human
Intellectual power never took form
Kindness and empathy could never transform
Discrimination could ever conform
Loving hearts could ever be so warm
Oh illustrious human, thank you for your brainstorm

The power of a name defines humanity
Its meaningful worth goes beyond vanity
The name gives us a sense of sanity
Life without names is an inanity
