First kiss
Hands brushing
Shedding layers,
At beaches,
Behind closed doors,
In cabin rooms

How’s anything holding on?

No college will ask,
How soft were her lips,
How protective his hand,
Why,
What,
What next?
My mother will never know,
And cannot punish
Without broken rules
Lacking a curfew
None will make or break
Job or audition

But
I look up

Rain freckles my nose
Or wind claws coat folds
Dry air holds my waits

Holes in the universe

Recording
It’s all there

To be visible some evenings
Clear next

First to appear,
The first time I loved
Or
Brightest to remain
When I said goodbye
