I'm taking my time writing in the dark
I can't see the light from here
Nobody ever wonders what it's like
I'm just taking a second to breath
Just stop telling me where to go
I'll figure it out before I'm dead
I've never tried to write a metaphor
This is just how words come out

But now I can't think of what to say
Whatever you think it may be there's not a second to delay
Nothing ever comes out right
Only shine bright with the stars and their delight

I'm running late again
I'm trying to keep up, but the strings might tear
I'm going to make it to the other side
Dragging and pulling I don't care
It doesn't really matter to me now
I'm still in the dark writing with a head heavy as lead
