Little girl, your hair is in curls.
Little girl in the lace dress, the world is so big.
There are people in a city, far far away;
they will straighten your hair and take away your shoes.
Little girl, keep your curls, they are the life in you.
Little girl, keep your shoes on, let no one take them from you.
