At age four we were discovering magic
near a well-known castle
all through the night Hey , our hands were linked
as if we were shackled.

As a book fell from the balcony onto the church floor,
our language became the ringing sounds of laughter forevermore.

Growing up on apple juice, goldfish, and VeggieTales,
our young selves knew even then that our bond would never grow stale.

Swinging in the dark and pretending we could fly
And running down hills while chasing fireflies.

Any time spent being with you as my best friend
becomes a memory that will be forever cherished.

I understand now that meeting you was kismet
Just as fate heralds the evening sun to set.

We begin our last year of childhood,
ecstatic for the future that lies ahead in womanhood.

You and I have been there through it all
evermore growing forever enthralled.

My dear best friend
My love for you will never end.
