household chores

save breath for later

lungs in a tupperware

container

ziplock baggies full

of sounds

the ones, the words

I'm too tired to make

hang my eyelids

on the clothesline

to dry, leave the weight

behind

pull all my teeth

plant them in the ground

grow some new ones

place them in my mouth

and let them fall out

that's not how to smile
