The third world is all around us
and for those who fear invasion like
germophobes fear the handshake, even
a gesture of friendship is toxic —
the air is full of mites and things you can’t see
so better clad up faith in iron to free belief
from fact —
leave it to the missiles, and the barbed wire —
and tell me, how much is this antique bible worth
at auction?
