spread your wings
she said i cant
i said don't worry
you'll fly someday
besides, the things you want you got work hard for
but don't you ever work harder than you play
she said thanks for the advice but ill think twice
when it come time to pay
she said as for me
in my nest
in this tree
is where i lay
I'm not ready to fly away

Oh tattered her wing from the weather
but she chooses to be in the rain
and now the thunder brings fire
but she loves to admire her pain

The sun's been trying to get through to you
but your climates controlled by your doubt
you think that everyone living with a smile on their face
is some how living in a drought

Oh that dark cloud you wear as your shadow
as you leave everything in the dark
those clouds will only get darker
and when it storms
we'll know who you are
and you'll find it right to try
you'll find the mite to fly

The sun came out
as she worked hard fixing her wings
then one thought led her to believe
she needed to play harder for these things
as for now we keep flying
as our weather keeps shining
so glad we flew away
