I watched the water drain today.
And it was crimson.
And I thought of myself.
And as I watched the life drain,
I thought, for the first time, enough.
I cannot sail the seven seas,
Cannot climb the Eiffel Tower,
Cannot race through a green field
on a blue sky day.
Cannot summit Everest,
Cannot fall in love,
Cannot fall out,
Cannot run a marathon,
Cannot crunch the brown Autumn leaves,
From behind these skinny slices.
Open mouthed, they stare at me.
And I realize, for the first time,
They too, ask me to stop.
Red won't change the colour of the ocean.
I will carry on.
Today, I will live.
