Jul 2019
the ever charmed traipse of light
walking darkness one last time
emerges the unforgiving sun
plows the soil flower to stem
hits behind a mask of dust
window shades and layered rust
the broke back addict bent in more
buys sight unseen face to the floor
begging beauty for something to reflect
the fuel to feed hopes neglect
turns the wheel in a kaleidoscope effect
colors splattered over shattered glass
spinning silver in lights finisse
pressing images in depth of design
black waves engulf a surge to tide
spilling over the shore in twilights gloom
the world a blossom in perilous bloom
perfect sculpted petals resemble wings
rise in hue to sail or sink
fall from the sky with wings for flight
scatter as fireflies cluttered bright
fiery spots stretching the horizon
llumination over the artist’s splendor
hand to a chisel and hammer
creator carving bone into matter
seeker of perfection in a spine
the humble tumble in freewill’s divide
a chance of life or death divine
generating a dazzling shine
they crumble side by side
reaching for the heavens to find
the ever charmed traipse of light
