In tangled thoughts they sit in silence
Both uncertain of what to say
What impression they should make on one another
They both want the same thing
Longing to hold the other
He speaks of promises and reassurance
To heal her past wounds
She speaks of faith and trust
To heal his thoughts and calm the sea
They both agree that this is all they needed to hear
As the silence comes again
Wrapped in each other’s arms
Her wounds seep
And his thoughts are as ruff
As the sea in a storm
