Waiting For The Eternal Footman (Amongst Other Youthful Pastimes)
Living is so short;
Forgetting is so long
*
I.
The room is filled
With ether
And sickness;
Instead of the smell
Of baking cookies
And youthful naivety.
Sullen and ghastly eyes
Hide
A once happy face;
The happy times
Are often the worst times-
Thalia and Melpomene
Both chuckle
And weep.
II.
That day,
You heard the white snow crunch beneath your feet
As you walked into the fluorescent office
Waiting to receive the news.
That day.
I was with you then;
You are not with me now.
I bake cookies
And I weep.
