I sang for me
Today I sang for me
Strumming my guitar absentmindedly
Not for 'him' or 'her' or 'them'
uncaring of the reality
Today the notes rang
a little differently
as I hummed and sang
a song that's mine, entirely
Today I tried to be me
because I wanted to see
till where my song would go
in this life's high and low
