As the night drags on
Your eyelids become far too heavy to hold up
Tongue starts to swell
And swallowing becomes a challenge
Your eyes are dry
Your neck is tight
Suddenly the mind can’t help
But to drift
To a darker place
Far to cold
You shiver into sleep
And hope
It’s brighter in the morning
