If joy were sunshine
If joy were sunshine and sad was rain
and that was the only weather
I think people would understand
People love the sunny days
it’s when they can go and play
But if the sun never left
If the rain never came
Then creatures would fall victim to drought
And the world would fall apart
We need the rain
We need the sun
if the sun was always shining
And was the way it had always been
Assuming evolution did it’s job
To the animals
The sun would hold no meaning
To them, that’d be the way it's always been
As they would have never seen the rain
Because having joy without ever having sadness
makes the joy ordinary and dull instead of fun and great
We always want joy and we always want sunshine
