You are the rock of the river
splashed at but immobile
you are stubborn and fearless
roots embedded in the dirt
a permanent home
no moss
and untouched by erosion

water parts ways around you
like you trudge against current
and out of respect
fear
or pity
they go around you
you stubborn rock.
