The blackout
And suddenly its dark,
the lights they all went out
and everything is quiet
not a sound throughout
A striking match the only sound
its flare the only light
oil lamps and candles
illuminate the night
Sitting here in silence
amazed by lack of noise
how do we never notice
our cacophony of toys
I cannot help but wonder
this peace that's so serene
how do we never choose this
until nature intervenes
