NOT LATELY

I haven’t been myself of late,
fast approaching ‘pearly-gates,’
has kept me at ‘loose-ends.’

I frequently ask Lord Jesus,
haven’t I made amends, enuf?
Why then, all this waiting-stuff?

Whom I really yearn to see again
is mom, pop & of course my friend.
But maybe that’s too much, Amen.

Life was often unfair; times too
hard to bear. Never a ‘sleeper.’
I often ‘needed a keeper.’ C’mon
then, ‘Grim-Reaper!’— Ray Laccetti
