Brothers

There are days

I feel so desperately alone

Being single

Feels like carrying a thousand pounds in my heart

But than

I spend an evening

With one of my "brothers"

(what I call my close guy friends)

And I feel blessed

Blessed because although I don't have a boyfriend

Or fiance

Or husband

I have my brothers

Boyfriends may come and go

Fiance's may leave you

Husbands may one day abandon you

But brothers

You may fight with them

And argue

But in the end

They will always be your brother

Your friend

And I have many brothers

Not born of my mother

And for that

I am blessed
