It hurts to laugh; it feels like glass against the heart.
She hides her anguish behind a smile that brings tears to the sun,
Her laughter rings over the skies like a crescendo of despair: reaching out to be saved.

All sense of delight feels like a flicker in time;
Tears become an ocean of doubt.
Walking under the stars at night on black sand
Helps soothe the hurt.
Let it out and weep with the clouds that cry into the sea.

Her scars are hauntingly beautiful;
There's no cure for ailments of the soul.
Sorrow is the flower she keeps with her - always.
A somber reminder to treat her heart with care.
To never let love fill her
with regret and despair again.
