I do not believe in destiny,
Or silly things like Love at first sight.
I think Soul Mates are for dreamers who
Are too afraid to put forth the effort
And make something difficult,
Into something that works.
However,
I do believe in Love
And it’s many shapes and forms.
I saw it once, in your eyes
While we danced in your apartment
To the sound of sirens cutting though the night.
I do believe in Heartbreak.
You’ve made it happen twice.
Once when your lips first touched mine
And again, six years later
When you removed your hand
From my waist.
