Some days I believe in those fairy tales
The ones where love never fails

On others I know that all those stories aren't real
Just something played on a reel

Repeated and repeated until
We're convinced it's real

Love, can it be true?
That simple I love you?

Or is it really that possessiveness
That'll steal your breath quicker than a kiss

Death-defying,
Then why am I crying?

For the lost, the unknown, the could have beens
The feelings that sent needles and pins

Through me
But love I couldn't see

No such thing, I said
Trying to use my head

All the while my heart was calling out
You left and I wanted to scream and shout
