Fog
Sheets of fog
scarve the trees
& within
the rain hiss
the dawn
moves ahead.
Apartment buildings
wake on
Connecticut Ave,
& in the valley
an apparition
drapes the forks.

I'm alone after
another breakup
& it's starting
to weigh.
I tell myself
that it's all
in the trying,
but we all
know that lie.

******* it,
just let the fog collapse
back into the grass,
it's tried long enough
to be a cloud.
