A World of Darkness

I wake, wishing, wanting, waiting for a new day

it seems as if the golden beams coming from heaven will never shine

as if the mockingbird will never sing

as if the hope of light is only a dream

i sit and stare

into the vast darkness of the world around me

in the world around me there is no hope

there is no light

there is only darkness

there is only darkness
