i look at the sun,
slowly tucking itself in, to get a good night’s sleep.
as i look up and in front of me,
at the purple and orange hue
splattered across the sky,
i smile.
i remember the last time the sun went to sleep;
slowly dimming its brightness around me.
its radiating beauty, slowly fading away,
giving its throne to the queen
who rules over the night sky.

i look down at my feet
watching the waves wash away
the sand that clings onto it.
i look up to the sky
and see the vast night sky
glistening with stars
complex enough to form constellations.

oh universe,
you never fail to take my breath away.
