An Ode to Parenting
So much emotion churns within me these days.
Like a tantrum thrown over an empty cup or missing snack.
Joy so free the winds of change stop to appreciate.
Like curly hair bouncing on a sweaty forehead from a toothy laugh.
Pride so high mountains of gold are rust in comparison.
Like shining light in cool blue eyes.
Fear so deep as the endless chasm that can be quenched as you check each passing breath for life in the dark night.
Pain so strong as the purest steel bound with the hardest memories and worst decisions. Yet resolute in anticipation of the crashing waves.
I watch the gentle rise and fall as they sleep.
