Dec 2018
we are taught to desire princes
we are molded to want perfection
to await a rescuing
as though a girl
is only 1/2 of a puzzle piece
mirrors lie to us
pressure overtakes is
as we surrender to the idea
we must be saved
to be deeply admired
only to find more emptiness
in the depths of our souls
as a result of giving into a lie
for we need not be rescued
when we are not broken
we need only to be seen
as a puzzle piece whole
perfect on its own
unstoppable with a love
so confident
it need not tear her down
to build itself up
and change the world
along the way
