Surmise, Surprise
Repress the memories
Those major moments
That make you human
Individual You
From your bag of tricks
The greatest plays are writ
Follow the sun
Smile at the moon
Pretend it's ok
To get through the day
Wear a mask
A clever disguise
Till you fool even yourself
At a game so twisted
In a world of woe
Seasoned so
Selected to know
We pull the wool over our eyes
Become willing to incorporate
Our many mistakes
Bitter heartbreaks
We hid in ditches and caves
Run from the spotlight
Write pretty ditty's
Mend and compromise
Our morals
Our compass
The aftermath passes us by
Yet we promise no lies
Live no surprise
No filthy surmise
Give birth
Then we die
Turn to earth
Without having once lived
The stone is blank
When we lay rest to our head
Souls have we
Pretend not to notice
Ignorance is bliss
It's too hard to admit
Without feeling
Hurt clearly seen
Is embraced by a sneer
We're all in danger here
If we don't kick into gear.
