Dec 2018
An Ode to Darry Ashton
An ‘International Poet’
Is his own claim to fame
With seven books all published
It seems he knows his game
He covers many genres
Satire to tragedy
He wants his special messages
To impact you and me
Some poems are his very own
It’s not too hard to tell
The rhythm often faltering
And he doesn’t rhyme too well
But sometimes there’s an entry
That stops you in your track
When something seems familiar
And then your brains you rack
Where could I have seen it?
I’ve read it all before
I told my friends about it
They told me to make sure
And so I searched the Internet
And I looked everywhere
Then there it was, the self same one
And the author’s name was there!
So I put pen to paper
To say I was surprised
That he had said he’d written it
The work was plagiarised
He never got back to me
He hasn’t made a sound
But I’ll stick around for now
Although he’s gone to ground
With kind permission from Ros Hicks written 5th December 2018
