not forgotten
have you forgotten
what it's like
to breathe
fresh air?
have you forgotten
how to see
(the sunrise)
with your heart?
have you lost your way
on another cold,
dreary
day?
is the sun hiding from you
or do you hide from it?
the blue jay will sing
whether you listen or not.
will you leave another note
to yourself
reminding of the time
when you sang too?
it won't be forgotten.
first light leaves
a mark
that won't rub off
no matter how many buckets of bleach.
