Closer
If I die today,
Where shall I be?
On a train or a bus?
Will it happen quickly?
Who will be with me?
Or shall I die alone?
What will they tell you?
When they call on the telephone?
It will be someoneβs job
To take my body away
Someone kind I hope
If I die today.
I feel nervous now
I can hear them say the words
Both sad and happy
Like the songs of birds.
It is seventeen years now,
Since she died
Where did she go
Who was her guide?
It feels close now,
No pain I pray
For me or for you
If I die today
