There was once an old magnolia tree on which I used to climb Her branches thinned as up I went to feel the forest sigh My arms wrapped tight about her trunk, we moved as if as one The wind began its quiet song We swayed beneath the sun.
Now all of that was long ago The tree is far away Yet still I go there often when I'm worn, or tired, or grey Peace once again, good will to all creation, let us sing For wonder lives within, without And love made Every thing
So light a candle say a prayer and look to see the good A silent night, a babe so bright Yes celebrate we should And though our days of climbing now might well be far behind Still my good friend magnolia's ever taller in my mind.
And so it is this wonder, love and peace The stuff of dreams We wish for all the planet, As we dream our holiday dreams Go to your tree, what that might be And leave all hate behind Go forth in peace, this moment keep, relive it and be kind
