My first heart break

When I felt all alone

Running mile after mile

But going nowhere

That elliptical motion

Somehow lulling me

Into that false sense

That I could run away from it all

Lying fetal position

In my empty apartment

As my kitten licks the salt

Running down my face

And I ball into the phone

Even though my best friend

Was six thousand miles away

She managed to point me back to Christ.

Words I will never forget.

"He does not define you.

You are a smart,

confident, sassy,

go getter

Daughter of a beloved king,

Who is holding you tight

as he watches you weep.

He loves you dearly

and has plans for you to prosper."
