St. Teresa swoons
in ecstasy as an impish
cherub punctures her heart
with arrows of divine love.

Eyes closed, mouth agape,
she falls back into marvelous,
wrinkled marble,
Bernini's brilliant sculpture
of genius.

Is it physical or spiritual
ecstasy she feels?
We wonder because
the ****** expression,
the body language
are the same.

No matter.
If she did not swoon
in ecstasy, she would
surely levitate in love
