When I first saw you, I knew there was more to know
Even though I knew you well, you would not let any of it show
You were my other half, perfectly completing me
My total opposite though that you could not see
A love that could have been so strong
Lost because it could have gone terribly wrong

Years later here we are
Both standing quite a distance far

Meeting on the battleground
Swiftly preparing for the final round
You bare your gun the same as your troop
I never thought you would go so low to stoop
I stand across from you with courage and poise
Protecting my people while making no noise

We look into each other's eyes wondering how we ended up here
Feeling as if we were looking at a forgotten reflection in a mirror

You aimed your gun like you were trained to do, to shoot anything in your way
The shot was fired and your path cleared, burning any good left in you leaving me with no words left to say
